From Montreal roots to Amsterdam clubs, HIBIKI’s latest release marks another milestone in his rhythmic journey.
Today, rising producer HIBIKI unleashes his brand-new single “Deathly Waiting” on Soundrive—a bouncy Tech House track that’s already making waves across the EDM scene. Built with irresistible grooves and infectious energy, the track captures both HIBIKI’s deep percussive background and his forward-thinking electronic vision.
For HIBIKI, music has always been a family affair. Born and raised in Montreal to a Japanese mother and Canadian father, he grew up surrounded by rhythm. His grandfather and father were both percussionists, and his earliest memories include drumming on household items with sticks his mother made from rolled-up newspapers. That love of rhythm led him to explore Taiko drumming, a Japanese tradition that taught him the power of movement and sound.
From there, HIBIKI’s musical world expanded—jazz, rock, European, and Indian influences all shaped his style. After years of studying jazz performance and mastering the art of drumming at Vanier College, he discovered dance music between 2012 and 2014. The idea that beats could be built with computers and electronic sounds flipped his world upside down, sparking the obsession that would eventually transform him into the producer he is today.
Since his first productions in 2014, HIBIKI has grown into a unique voice in the electronic music landscape. His tracks “Come Back,” “Dance to the Rhythm,” and “Touch My Body” have already caught attention for their infectious grooves. With “Deathly Waiting,” he takes things up a notch—layering crisp percussion, pulsing basslines, and hypnotic rhythms into a dancefloor-ready weapon that’s sure to be heard in sets across the globe.
Currently based in Amsterdam, HIBIKI continues to channel his multicultural background, classical training, and lifelong passion for rhythm into music that bridges worlds and keeps people moving.
