ABLATIVE is the brainchild of a literal rocket scientist who has lived and breathed sci-fi, tech, and the thrill of exploring the universe since childhood. From launching model rockets in his backyard to studying engineering at university, he’s spent his whole life preparing to go to the stars.
Today, his day job in aerospace technology gives his musical persona a genuine scientific edge. But by night, he shifts into ABLATIVE, an artist who blends synthwave, dubstep, dark synth, and midtempo to create a sound that evokes humanity’s future among the stars.
Launched in 2024, the ABLATIVE project has already taken flight, with performances at several Denver shows, even landing an opening slot for dubstep powerhouse Midnight Tyrannosaurus. His sound, heavily influenced by icons like Subtronics, ATLiens, Rezz, and Svdden Death, echoes the intensity of dubstep but with a unique sci-fi twist.
In addition to bass-heavy favorites, ABLATIVE draws from cyberpunk and dark synth artists like Extra Terra and F.O.O.L., adding layers of cinematic drama and techy intrigue to every track. His goal is simple: to remind us of where we, as a species, might be heading.
And what better place to start this journey than with his new single, “Gravity Well.” Named after the powerful gravitational forces exerted by massive bodies in space (think stars and black holes), this track brings the weight of the cosmos directly to the bass.
